Squarespace 7 offers multiple ways to log into your site. All of these methods require the email address and password or social account you used to create your Squarespace account.
Squarespace 5 uses a different login location and method from Squarespace 7. For help, visit Logging in on our Squarespace 5 Help Center.
If you have trouble logging into your site, follow this guide to troubleshoot.
Tip
If you can't log in, it could be related to a system-wide issue we're fixing. Follow our Status page to stay updated about any downtime.
Before you begin
Ensure you’re using the same login method you chose when you signed up. You can log in using an email address and password, or through Apple, Facebook, or Google.
I forgot my password
If you can't log in because you lost your password, click here to reset your password. For more information, visit Resetting your Squarespace password.
I forgot my email address
If you can't log in because you forgot the email address linked to your account, click here to recover your account. For more information, visit Recovering your account email address. If you've added a phone number to your account, you can recover your account by text message.
I'm seeing an error message
This error appears for the following reasons:
- Your password is incorrect
- Your email address doesn't exist as an account yet
- Your account uses social login instead of a password login
To resolve this error, try each of the following steps with your email address:
- Log in with a social account
- Switch from a social login to a password login
- Create a new account
- Reset your password
If you tried the steps above and still can't log in, fill out this form to help us find your account. After verifying that you're the account owner, an Advisor will work with you to resolve the issue.
Change login preference
Every Squarespace account has one login method. You can log in using an email address and password, or through Apple, Facebook, or Google. You must log in the same way you signed up, unless you changed your login method.
Account not found
You’ll see this error if you try to log in through a social account that’s not connected to a Squarespace account. To resolve:
- Ensure you chose the correct social account.
- If you already signed up for Squarespace and can’t remember your login information, recover your login information.
- If you’re new to Squarespace, click Create to create a new account.
A request for two-factor authentication appears
If a request for two-factor authentication appears after entering your email address and password, you've enabled two-factor authentication for your account. If you run into issues logging in with two-factor authentication, visit Troubleshooting two-factor-authentication.
A request to verify my email address with a code appears
You may be asked to verify your email address upon login by entering a code we email to you. If you can’t find the email, try:
- Checking your spam or trash folders, and any marketing or promotional folders you may have
- Using your email provider’s built-in search. You can try searching for “Squarespace.”
- Adding our email addresses to your allow list and then logging in again to re-send the email
Note
Each new emailed code invalidates all previous emailed codes. Make sure you’re using the most recent one.
If you can’t verify with the emailed code, you’ll need to go through our account recovery process.
To avoid this verification process in the future, you can enable two-factor authentication.
I can't log in using the Escape key shortcut
As of January 2024, the Escape key shortcut is no longer supported. If you used the Escape key to access your Squarespace account while viewing your website, you have a few different options for logging in. Bookmark any of these URLs:
- Your direct login URL - Add /config to the end of your built-in or custom domain, like yourdomain.com/config. If you’re already logged in, this URL opens the site editor.
- account.squarespace.com - Your Squarespace account dashboard.
- squarespace.com/login
I might have a Squarespace 5 site
Squarespace 5 is our older platform, and it uses a different login location and method from Squarespace 7. If your email and password aren't working to log into Squarespace 7 and you think you may have a Squarespace 5 site, visit Logging into Squarespace 5.
I think my password was stolen
If you can't log in because you think someone may have changed your password, visit Resetting your Squarespace password. After you update your password following the steps in that guide, your previous password will become invalid, preserving your site's security.
I didn't receive a password reset email
After you follow the steps to reset your password, we'll send you a password reset link using the email address you used to create your account.
If you didn't receive this email:
- Check your email's Spam or Junk folder.
- Add no-reply@squarespace.com to your email account's contacts.
If these steps don't resolve the issue, you may have entered the wrong email address when you created your site. This is usually the result of a spelling mistake or typo. If you think this is the case, follow these steps.
If you tried the steps above and still can't log in, fill out this form to help us find your account. After verifying that you're the account owner, an Advisor will work with you to resolve the issue.

Then, visit these guides for help removing a site or page-password.
